Changes at "Civic Kitchens Setup: equip 3 shared kitchens + safety protocol and booking system"

Avatar: Hadrien Froger Hadrien Froger

Description (Français)

  • -

Goal: make 3 Civic Kitchens operational in Bologna with safe equipment, clear rules, and easy access for communities and partners.

    What we will deliver

    • Upgrade 3 selected public spaces (community hubs / cultural centers) with certified kitchen equipment: fridges, ovens, induction plates, sinks, storage, and basic utensils.

    • Implement food safety and hygiene protocols aligned with local regulations: cleaning routines, temperature logs, allergen handling, and waste separation.

    • Create a simple booking and access system (time slots + responsible person per session) to avoid conflicts and ensure accountability.

    • Train local coordinators (one per kitchen) to support users, manage keys/access, and maintain the space.

    • Install clear on-site signage: rules, emergency contacts, safe storage, and inclusive behavior guidelines.

    Implementation steps

    1. Site selection: confirm 3 locations with water/electric capacity and accessibility.

    2. Procurement: purchase equipment and consumables with transparent inventory tracking.

    3. Compliance: validate safety checks, basic insurance requirements, and responsible-use forms.

    4. Training: run 2 training sessions per kitchen for coordinators and volunteers.

    5. Soft opening: first 4 weeks of guided sessions only, then open booking to broader community.

    Expected results

    • 3 fully operational shared kitchens with clear governance and maintenance routines.

    • Reduced friction for community groups to host cooking activities.

    • Safer, cleaner, and more accessible public infrastructure for food-related initiatives.

Notes: this sub-project focuses on infrastructure + operational readiness. Programming and food redistribution are handled in a separate sub-project.
