Open Flood Map Gdańsk: public risk dashboard + micro-drainage upgrades in 5 priority streets
Goal: improve flood preparedness in Gdańsk by combining transparent public data with small, high-impact drainage upgrades.
What we will do
Publish an Open Flood Map with historic incidents, vulnerable zones, and safe routes during heavy rain.
Create a simple public dashboard: rainfall alerts, blocked drain reporting, and response status.
Upgrade micro-drainage in 5 priority streets: additional inlets, grates, and local slope corrections.
Add rain gardens (where possible) to absorb runoff near schools and low points.
Run a community reporting campaign so residents can report flooded points with photos and location.
Why this matters
Short, intense storms are increasing and overwhelm local infrastructure.
Residents need clear, trustworthy information to make safe decisions.
Small works can prevent repeated damage while larger plans are developed.
